Seals Street shootout: One charged, one sought

By DEUCE NIVEN

A fist fight between neighbors that escalated into a shootout, with one man firing an assault rifle, has landed one of those men in jail, with police searching for the second, Lt. Greg Sibbett of the Tabor City Police Department said Sunday.
Aaron “A.B.” Bell, 24, was charged early Sunday with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, released from the Columbus County Detention Center within three hours after posting bond of $3,500.
Christopher Lawrence “Boo” Stanley, 37, is wanted on the same charges, Sibbett said. Both men live in the 100 block of Seals Street, several houses apart.
Both men had been involved in a fist fight outside of Stanley’s home, when Bell retreated to his house, and returned with a .22 caliber rifle, Sibbett said.
Stanley had gone into his house, and come back out with a SKS assault rifle, Sibbett said. When Bell returned, he opened fire, with Stanley returning the gunshots. Police recovered 14 shell casings from the SKS rifle on the street in front of Stanley’s home, Sibbett said.
No one was injured in the exchange of gunfire, and no one has reported any related property damage, Sibbett said.
